Aarhus Film Workshop is sending three filmmakers to Palestine
In November, Aarhus Film Workshop is sending three filmmakers to our residency in The Danish House in Palestine, to explore or make films. Read more about them below.
Julie Budtz Sørensen
Screenwriter and director (1987), Master in History of Ideas at Aarhus University 2013 and is a trained screenwriter from The Danish Film School in 2015. She has since 2015 been working as a professional screenwriter and director on her own projects, among others Dinner With A (M&M Productions) and two radio dramas at Denmarks Radio. Furthermore, she has been working with Annette K. Olesen, Barbara Topsøe-Rothenborg and Ask Hasselbalch. From November on, Sørensen is going to be an episode writer on the first Danish Netflix series The Rains, season 2.
Christian Hersker’s career started as a theatre director in 2009. In his staging, the audience noticed the filmic style in his performances, and this made the advertising agency Uncle Grey contact him, asking to direct a short commercial for them. The commercial was shortlisted at the Cannes Lions film festival in 2010. Thereafter, Christian directed several other humorous commercials for among other HIFI-Klubben, and Deadlight Lydiksen A/S. Furthermore, Christian is directing music videos and working as an actor.
In 2015 Christian directed a documentary about corruption in the Columbian adoption agencies. Christian is self-taught all the way.
Anne Troldtoft Hjorth
Anne Troldtoft Hjorth started her film career when she received Danida’s World Photo Scholarship in 2013. Since 2014, she has been co-producing the American directed documentary Unrest, which had its premiere at The Sundance Film Festival in 2017. She was responsible for the documentary’s Danish located productions, however she was also responsible for some of the British and American parts of the film. Since then, Anne has been working on DR on several other film projects.
